When the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Come unto Me…” He was genuinely giving you the offer to enter into a relationship with Himself.  His ability to satisfy any and every need of an individual is unmatched in any other person who has ever lived.  Only the Lord Jesus Christ could truthfully say, “… I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28-30.

The reason this is so is because He is unlike any person who has ever lived.  He is God come in the flesh.  He is the incarnate Son of God.  The apostle John in his gospel references the deity of Christ in his prologue.  “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.  In Him was life… And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us…”   John 1:1-4, 14. 

See also the apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Colossae where he declares, “For in Him (Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.”  Colossians 2:9.

And consider the apostle Peter’s testimony, “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty, For He received from God the Father, honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”  2 Peter 1: 16-17.

The Lord is calling you to, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me and you shall find rest for your souls, for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”   O friend, are you longing for rest from the burdens of the day?   Are you feeling an emptiness in life that nothing seems to be able to fill?  Come to the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is the only one who is totally capable of satisfying every human need and fulfilling every longing for meaning that our souls have.

May the Lord give you grace to come to Him and may you experience the truth of His eternal love and the gift of rest for your soul!  Perhaps you feel undeserving of such a free gift.  Let this promise of the Lord Jesus Christ give you peace.  Jesus said, “All that the Father gives to Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to me, I will by no means cast out.”  John 6:37

Come to the Lord Jesus Christ today!  Do you feel the weight of sin?  Do you mourn great loss?  Do you struggle with unbearable loneliness?  He can meet your most dire need – whatever it is.  He is inviting you to believe in him today!
