WHERE

WILL

YOU

SPEND

ETERNITY?

It is a question well worth considering. After all, we all plan for future events like careers, weddings, retirement, and even death. But then what? What happens after death? Can we even know?

Well, according to God’s word, the Bible, there is good news and bad news. First, the bad news. Heaven is a place where our Holy and righteous God dwells and where there is no sin or evil. So, you might say that sounds like a good place to spend eternity. Why is this bad news? It is bad because the Bible says that we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity (Psalm 51:5). Romans 3:23 says that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. God sees us as sinners and is not going to let us into a heaven where there is no sin. The righteousness of God demands a penalty for sin. The Bible says in Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death..” Now we have a problem , a sin problem, and there is nothing we can do of ourselves to solve it. If we were to die tonight in our sin, we would spend eternity apart from God, in a terrible place called hell.

Now, the good news. The Bible says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” That’s right, God loved us so much that he sent His very own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to take the punishment for our sins. Romans 5:8 says “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. Yes, Jesus Christ, God’s sinless, perfect Son was made sin for us, so that we could be made righteous before a Holy God. So what we couldn’t do for ourselves, God has done for us through the sacrifice of His Son. He has made us fit for heaven. Now the choice is ours. Will we accept God’s offer of salvation by repenting of our sin, asking His forgiveness and accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and be assured of a place in heaven?

If you choose God’s plan of salvation, just tell him in a simple prayer like this: “Lord, I realize now that I’m not good enough on my own to enter heaven. I am a sinner before you, but I repent of my sin and accept the free gift of salvation that you offer through Jesus Christ, your Son. Thank You for sending your Son to die for me so that my sins can be forgiven, and I can spend eternity with You.
